What causes toenail fungus?

Nail fungus is caused by a dermatophyte, a microscopic organism that thrives in dark, damp places. This same fungus is also responsible for athlete’s foot, ringworm and jock itch. If fungus is already present on or around you, then you could very well develop a nail infection. Furthermore, coming in contact with someone who has a toenail fungus can also cause an infection.

How can laser treatment help?

While there are both topical and oral medications that can be used to treat toenail fungus, sometimes they aren’t always effective because topical remedies cannot penetrate through the nail to reach the infection. Because of this, laser treatment has become popular.

Our strong laser system can penetrate through the hard layers of nail without causing any harm to nail or tissue, while heating and destroying the fungus. The whole procedure takes less than 30 minutes to complete, and while the nail won’t become instantly clear it will grow out clear after treatment.
