Have trouble with eliminating your toenail fungal infection? Laser therapy could finally help!

While toenail fungus may not seem like a big deal to you, it’s important that you don’t just ignore it. This is because an untreated fungal infection can continue to spread and could even lead to other complications. So, if you have a toenail fungus that is severe or doesn’t respond to at-home measures, our River North and Schaumburg, IL podiatrists are here to tell you whether laser treatment might be the next best option.

What is PinPointe FootLaser?

This laser treatment is a safe effective way to target, heat up and kill the fungus growing in and under your toenail. If you’ve tried topical antifungal creams in an effort to kill the fungus, you may know that it’s difficult for a medicinal cream to effectively penetrate the nail to kill the entire fungus. This is why laser therapy is a great option, as it can effectively pass through the nail to kill the whole infection.

What should I expect from laser treatment?

Before you get PinPointe FootLaser treatment, our River North and Schaumburg foot doctors will need to make sure that you are a good candidate for treatment. This means that you will need to come into our office for a consultation. We will examine the affected toenails and go through your medical history to determine if this is the best course of action for you and your health.

If the procedure is the right one for you, you can even have it done the same day. The entire procedure only takes about a half hour to complete and in some cases, you’ll only need one treatment in order to completely destroy the infection.

Will it hurt?

There isn’t any pain associated with this treatment, as it’s completely non-invasive. The only sensation you may notice is a slight warming when the heated laser is directed over the toenail.

Is there a recovery process?

There is no recovery time involved. You’ll come into our office, get the treatment you need and then you’re free to head back to your daily routine.

If you are having trouble tackling your toenail fungal infection on your own then it might be time to let the foot care experts at the Center for Podiatric Medicine step in and handle the issue themselves. Whether you require oral medication or laser treatment turn to our podiatry offices in River North and Schaumburg, IL, for the care you deserve.
